Madison Starlings Volleyball Club 2012-13 Starlings.com 
Madison Starlings is a free volleyball club that meets once a week for kids 6th through 10th grades. This is the first year for this club in Madison. Starlings will mainly meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:15pm at O’Keeffe Middle School Gym. Due to conflicts, there are some Friday dates in January and February, being held at the Goodman Center on Waubesa St. All Madison school kids grade 6 through 10th are welcome to attend.
Starlings is a national non-profit volleyball organization committed to making the club volleyball experience available for all, regardless of income. Lauri Schwartz is the current Director and lead coach for Madison Starlings, as the Club continues to evolve.
Lauri was one of the coaches for O’Keeffe’s MSCR After School Volleyball program in 2011 & 2012. She played Division III volleyball, and has coached grades 5 through 10th at different Madison schools. Lauri works full time as a police supervisor during the day.
This past fall approx 15-20 girls and boys regularly practiced drills and then scrimmaged each other on Monday evenings. We would like to expand this group to include more kids from more Madison public and private schools.
Starlings attendees can join the Badger Region Volleyball Association for $15 for the year, as Starlings is joining as a developmental club. We intend to plan scrimmages with other teams in the area, as well as a team in Milwaukee. Kids wishing to simply come to practices are welcome, too. Attendance is not required every week. This is an “attend when you can” group, but obviously we would love to have kids come as often as possible.
MSCR is providing the facility. Barry Davis of O’Keeffe and Goodman Center assists with coaching, transportation, alternate facility, and everything. Jack Maloney is an assistant coach.
Please provide this information to any kids you think might be interested. We hope to do additional activities, such as travel to and observe a tournament, tour Marquette facilities, etc. If you would be willing to coach, donate, or get involved in any way, please contact Lauri.
